Public Programming
We offer a variety of public programs throughout the year. Please see our Event Calendar for upcoming public programs. All are welcome! Programs are free of charge unless otherwise noted.
Allamakee County Conservation Foundation Scholarship
The application period is closed for the 2026 season. The scholarship application will open again in 2027.
The Allamakee County Conservation Foundation Scholarship Fund is offering a $500 scholarship to Allamakee County students who plan to further their education in the degrees of environmental education, cultural interpretation, historical interpretation, outdoor recreation, or biological sciences. One $500 scholarship will be offered to a senior from each of the area High Schools in Allamakee County; Postville, Allamakee Community, and Eastern Allamakee.
- Applicant must be scheduled to graduate from an Allamakee County school district in 2026.
- Applicant must be planning to pursue a degree in natural resources or related field.
- Scholarship payments will be made directly to the college or university, upon receipt of an e-mail letter to the Allamakee County Conservation Foundation confirming the recipient’s enrollment.
- Applications must be received by 4:30 April 3, 2026.
- Announcement of the recipient will be made by May 5, 2026. The award winner is encouraged to attend the June Allamakee County Conservation Board meeting. Meetings are held the 1st Tuesday of each month at the Driftless Area Education and Visitors Center; 1944 Columbus Road, Lansing Iowa.

Summer Day Camps
After a successful flagship summer camp season in 2025, the Allamakee County Conservation Board is back with day camps for 2026! New this year is a second camp session for the 3rd-5th grade age group. See camp descriptions below for more information. Registration is required to participate. Limit one camp registration per student. We hope to see you this summer!
Pups Camp (1st-2nd Grade):
Date: Thursday, June 18th, 2026 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM
Location: Waterville Farm
Join Allamakee County Conservation staff for a fun day of exploration and play at the Waterville Farm. Participants will learn about local habitats and wildlife, do arts and crafts, play games and make new friends.
Coyote Camp (3rd-5th Grade):
Session 1 date: Tuesday, July 7th, 2026 9:00 AM-2:00 PM
Session 2 date: Friday, July 10th, 2026 9:00 AM-2:00 PM
Location: Waterville Farm
Let's get wild with ACCB! Participants in the Coyotes Camp will learn outdoor skills like basic plant identification, survival skills, and more.
Wilderness Exploration (6th-8th Grade):
Date: Wednesday, July 29th, 2026 9:00 AM-3:00 PM
Location: Yellow River State Forest
Nature is all about the way you see it and explore it. This is a chance to see Iowa the way you haven't before and to spend your entire day outdoors hiking the beautiful Yellow River State Forest.
